Google Maps Help
Can't find your pub on Google Maps during registration? Here's what to do.
What's a Place ID?
It's Google's unique identifier for your business (like ChIJNUe0Fbpb1moRN4qX_7L0Ddw). We need this to connect your reviews.
Finding Your Pub
Search by Name
Type your pub's name in the map search box. Add your town for better results (e.g., "The Red Lion, Wolverhampton").
Select from Dropdown
As you type, suggestions appear. Tap your pub from the list. The map will zoom to your location.
Verify Details
A green box shows your pub's name and address. Check this is correct before continuing.
If Your Pub Doesn't Appear
Check Your Google Business Profile
Your pub needs a verified Google Business Profile to appear. If you haven't claimed it:
- Go to business.google.com
- Search for your pub
- Claim or create your listing
- Complete verification (usually by postcard, takes 1-2 weeks)
You can complete registration once verified.
Try Searching by Address
If your name doesn't work, try your street address instead (e.g., "123 High Street, Birmingham").
Contact Us
If you're still stuck, complete registration without the map and contact us. We can manually connect your Google Maps later.
Common Issues
Try these solutions:
- Search by address instead of name
- Try name variations ("Red Lion" vs "The Red Lion")
- Check if your business is on Google Maps directly
- You may need to create a Google Business Profile first
Check the address in the dropdown carefully. Pick the one with your correct street name or postcode.
If there's a duplicate listing, pick the one with the most reviews for now and let us know.
Try these fixes:
- Refresh the page
- Check your internet connection
- Try a different browser (Chrome works best)
- Disable ad blockers temporarily
If still broken, skip Step 2 and contact us to add Google Maps manually later.
